Clinton County Showcase

 2005-2006 Preview / Gala

Gala / Preview Pictures     2004 - 2005 Patron's Choice Award Winner

On Sunday, April 24th, Clinton County Showcase will present its annual Patron’s Choice Awards show and Season Preview Gala.  CCS will also be drawing the “second chance” prizes for anyone who purchased a 50/50 ticket during any of the seven shows during the 2004-2005 season.

The Patron’s Choice Awards are extremely popular among theatrical participants.  Each patron had an opportunity to rate each nominee on ballot forms awaiting them at their seats during each show this past season. 14 awards in 4 separate categories will be presented this year.

The “Technical Awards” will recognize the best achievement in sound, lighting, costumes, and sets from the six regular season shows.  All six shows this season are nominees for this category.

The “Performance Awards” also consist of four awards: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress.  The cast members of each show nominated one of their fellow cast members for each category, and the patrons then rated the individuals’ on-stage performances.

The “Musical Awards” will give recognition to the cast-nominated best solo song, best ensemble song, and best dance from the two musicals this past season.  Best overall music will also be recognized.

The “Production Awards” will recognize the best director and the best show from this past season.  The nominees all come from the 2004-2005 season: Meet Me in St. Louis, Inherit the Wind, Pool’s Paradise, Inspecting Carol, Route 66, and Little Women.  Be sure to come to the theater to cheer on your favorites!

The Preview Gala always builds a lot of excitement for our upcoming season.  And we are pleased to announce the 2005-2006 season.

The youth musical “The Music Man, Jr.” will be directed by Lori Wahl.  Lori always does a fantastic job with the local young talent, and we are very pleased she will be committing her fourth consecutive summer to the youth musical project.

First-time director Jill Hodapp will undertake the production “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.”  Jill has helped with several past productions as an assistant director and technical director, and we look forward to see this lively song-and-dance show this August.

The third annual outdoor September show will be “Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?” will be directed by Rachel Luebbers.  Rachel is a veteran CCS performer and director.  Although audience attendance has been fairly low for the past two September shows, we’re confident that this humorous musical about Catholic schools in the ‘50’s and ‘60’s will bring people out to the park in the early fall.

CCS will produce the popular Agatha Christie mystery “Ten Little Indians” this October.  Director Hank Crider brings a wealth of theatrical experience to the historic Avon theater and invites everyone to come out for a pre-Halloween thriller.

Melissa Kaegel will direct the Christmas-themed musical revue “The Winter Wonderettes.”  Written by the same group who gave us the extremely popular “Route 66,” we’re confident this will be a very fun Christmas show for audiences of all ages.

Veteran director Glenn Saltamachia will return to the theater in time for Valentine’s Day for “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.”  A hilarious look at dating, marriage, kids, and old age, this musical revue is not to be missed.

The final show of the season will be the very popular “Steel Magnolias” under the direction of CCS fixture Mike Huelsmann.  This award-winning play has many powerful roles for actresses, and is a true crowd-pleaser.  Each director will be presenting a brief glimpse of the upcoming shows at the gala.  Don’t miss it.

The Second Chance Drawing is the other piece of the Preview Gala you won’t want to miss.  Anyone who’s ever attended a CCS show knows that we sell 50/50 tickets at each show.  This year marks the first time we’ll be giving away a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize bonus at the gala, if you’re present at the time of the drawing at the gala, your prize money is doubled!  Along with the Patron’s Choice Awards and the Preview of next season, this is just one other reason you won’t want to miss the Gala on April 24th, 2:00 pm.  (Oh yeah… We also serve free food).
