“Little Women”

Dramatized from Louisa M. Alcott’s novel

     Director Steve Klostermann will host auditions for Clinton County Showcase's 2005 Spring play "LITTLE WOMEN"

on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Avon Theater in Breese. 

Cast requirements: 4 females ages 14 - 25; 3 females ages 25 +; 2 males ages 16 - 25; 3 males ages 25 +

All performers will be required to read from the script at auditions.

SHOW SYNOPSIS: 
        Adapted from the widely read Luisa May Alcott novel, "Little Women" is the story of four girls growing up in mid-19th century New England.  Sibling rivalries, uncertainty about the future, confronting tragedy, and searching for one's soul mate are all timeless themes woven into the wonderfully adapted script. 

        "Little Women" will be presented in four acts.  The action takes place between December 1863 and October 1868. 

All action takes place in the March home.

Jo March, the second oldest sister, aspiring writer, and tomboy of the family (248 lines of dialogue).
Laurie, the well-to-do, happy-go-lucky boy next door (139 lines of dialogue).
Meg March, the oldest sister and peacekeeper among the sisters (116 lines of dialogue).
Marmee, the family matron and pillar of strength (115 lines of dialogue).
Amy March, the somewhat selfish and vain youngest sister (89 lines of dialogue).
Mr. March, the kind father of the four "little women" (55 lines of dialogue).
Brooke, Laurie's private tutor and Meg's eventual husband (52 lines of dialogue).
Beth March, the frail, musically-talented sister (40 lines of dialogue).
Professor Bhaer, an aloof German scholar and writer (39 lines of dialogue).
Mr. Laurence, Laurie's kindhearted, wealthy grandfather (29 lines of dialogue).
Hannah, the March family's maid (20 lines of dialogue).
Aunt March, a wealthy but miserly spinster (20 lines of dialogue).
