A quick update on the Avon renovations…
All the "stuff" is cleared out. I called Litteken Construction last week
Wednesday to let him know they can re-start their work whenever possible. I
don't believe they got back in Thursday or Friday last week, but Deb
Stratmann has reported a "contractor sighting" this morning.
Per Deb, Litteken Construction will be at the theater tomorrow morning at
8:00 WITH A CRANE. He is planning to bring down the roof and walls at 10:00
tomorrow morning. This could be an exciting and hisotircally significant
event to witness.
Deb also asked Alan Litteken what the next "job" for us would be. Al said
that once the concrete floor was poured, we could remove the forms
ourselves. Stay tuned…

The tech equipment is
relocated and the seats are all disconnected from the floor! My sincere
thanks to all the volunteers who assisted us the past two nights with these
arduous tasks. Debbie has located a storage facility for our seats, and we
are allowed to move them in on Monday night. Once this is done, the theater
house and lobby should be completely empty for the contractor to complete
the renovation work.
MONDAY, MAY 5, 7:00 PM -- If you can assist with moving the seats out of the
Avon and into their "summer home," CCS would be extremely appreciative.
Thanks everyone!

Greetings CCS supporters…
Please forward this information to anyone else who might be
interested in assisting Clinton County Showcase with its Avon
theater renovation efforts…
Earlier this week, our contractor found some unforeseen
problems with the building. Without going into too much detail, the
problems will add a cost of about $25,000
to "phase 1" of the project. Among the additional work will
be an entire new floor in the back of the house.
This means ALL CHAIRS will need to be removed.
Starting tonight, CCS volunteers will be working at 7:00 pm every night to remove all chairs.
Some come out pretty easily; some require a little more effort.
If you're looking to get some exercise and volunteer a
little time to a very worthwhile non-profit arts organization, please plan
to be at the Avon 7:00 tonight, tomorrow night, Saturday night (although we
might start earlier on Saturday), or any night next week until this portion
of the prep-work is completed. I'll keep you posted when we finish.
Thank you all for your support of CCS!

- Renovation Update
I want to
thank everyone once again for their assistance with the renovation project.
Many of you have not only volunteered your valuable time to do some
theatrical dirty work, but you've done so with very little advance notice.
I'm amazed at how quickly we can mobilize to complete a project.
A quick summary of what we've accomplished thus far: moved seats, torn down
interior walls, removed lights/light bars, and emptied/removed costume
trailer behind the theater. I will speak to the contractor today regarding
our next task. I believe we will need to move the tech equipment from the
booth to "someplace else." I'll keep you posted. Thanks again.

Hello all.
The contractor's crew has started the "teardown" of the interior
walls today. All the seats are covered, and one entire wall is stripped dwn to the studs. Mike Huelsmann
checked with Jason Litteken (Al's son) to see if
it would be OK for us to do the other wall ourselves, and he said that
would be fine.
If you're looking for a fun way to start your morning tomorrow, how about
reporting to the Avon theater with your
hammers to knock a bunch of lath-and-plaster off some studs? Mike and
Dustin will be there around 8:00
am.
I apologize for the short notice… Please try to be there if you can. It
gets pretty dusty, so prepare yourselves for that.
And please bring hammers (for destruction), shovels (to remove debris from
the floor), and possibly gloves (never know what's behind those walls).
I'll try to be there in the afternoon.
Thanks to everyone for making the Avon
renovation a reality!

The seats are
moved and the light bars are down. Our pro-bono work is completed… for now.
Many thanks to all who helped out. Stay tuned. I'm sure we will be calling
for assistance on another task in the very near future.

Hello fans and supporters of
Clinton County Showcase.
As most of you know, PHASE ONE
of our planned BUILDING RENOVATION project is about to begin. To minimize costs and maximize
efficiency, the theater needs your time. To facilitate this spring's
interior renovations (walls and ceiling), our contractor has asked us to
move the theater seats closest to the walls to the center area.
The Avon's
seats are very sturdy, and thus very heavy. We can use all the help
we can get. We will be working on this project each evening this week
starting at 7:00 pm.
And we start tonight (4/14)! Please make plans to devote one or more
evenings to this task. The more we do ourselves, the less we'll need
to pay someone else to do it. (And the more money we'll have left for
other theater improvements).
Thanks everyone. I hope
to see a huge crowd at the theater this evening!
